Focus

The struggle is real.

An actual image of me attempting to focus.

So focusing on a single thing - be it a task/project; hobby/craft; applying eye liner/mascara/lipstick; movie; image in the distance (or up close while I’m wearing my contacts); blog theme; décor/fashion/writing style - has never been my strength.

Perhaps made no more evident in my licentious use of slashes above.

Word

Focus is word of many talents. It can be a noun! Or a transitive verb! Or an intransitive verb!

It’s glorious!

Almost as glorious as my (over)use of exclamation points!

But today we’re going to use the transitive verb definition below.

FOCUS (verb)

1: to cause to be concentrated

focused their attention on the most urgent problems

2 a: to adjust the focus of (the eye, a lens, etc.)

b: to bring into focus

3: to bring (something, such as light rays) to a focus : CONCENTRATE

Why am I talking about focus?

About 6 weeks ago - as I was adding the 201st product to our website - I learned that my website template accommodated a maximum of 200 products. Dangit.

Was I surprised? Yup. Particularly given that there was no easy way to to switch to a new, product-friendly template.

My sole alternative was to completely rebuild the site on another domain taking advantage of a free trial using the new template, then transfer our domain to the trial site.

So for the past 6 weeks, I’ve been creating a new site, which you are now viewing.

Is it gorgeous? Yup.

Is it perfect? Prolly not. YET

I should have realized looooong before now that I was limited to 200 products. WTHeck happened?

I lost my focus

I’ve been too busy planning new projects; learning new stuff; hatching new plans; spreading myself too thin.

Our goal has always been to list products online so we can reach a larger audience for our vendors. And I’m behind on that. Big time. So as of this moment (as I type, not as you read):

Our online shop is my #1 focus.

Mix-Tape Must-Have

Unlike Ms. Grande, I’m not the object of my renewed focus.

That chorus though

Something Punny

A pun that is also a mea culpa.

And objectively funny, dontcha think?

Palette

This image borders on being the banal fodder of corporate motivational posters. Which I loathe.

But - since “FOCUS” is a permanent part of this viewing machine (of some sort, I assume) - I can work with it.

Vintage Illustration

This image represents - among other things - my inability to focus.

I am obviously the damsel wearing the fuchsia dress that certainly has weights sewn into the hem preventing it from floating around my head.

The monster of the abyss is cameroncountymercantile.com.

The diver wielding the spear and wearing a distractingly bright shirt is every new idea/project/initiative that I’m tempted to pursue.

Featured Product

Speaking of focus and the online shop. . .

This vintage Polaroid camera is available to purchase in the SHOP. Fair warning: it’s not functional.

If vintage cameras are your thing, stand by. I have several more to add soon.

The GIF that keeps on GIFing

May we all learn to focus like Bruce Lee.
