Ladies' Hat with Feather

$30.00

Condition: Pre-owned - Excellent

Dimensions: 10” x 7.5” (12” including the feather)

This delightful chapeaux is perfect for autumn! As if the pristine velour weren’t enough to dazzle and amaze, the vibrant feather is - well - the feather in the cap!

(My fairly well-documented love of puns mandated that I include that last bit.)

Aesthetics aside, the gold emblem printed inside the hat is fascinating. As seen in the close up image below, it states, “Velour” and “Genuine Imported Fur.” I have long languished under the impression that velour was primarily an inexpensive replacement for velvet. I also thought it was a synthetic fabric. Does “fur” actually refer (or reFUR) to the velour? Did the “Imported Fur” reFUR to the feather??

This would require some Scooby Doo-level sleuthing.

Or just a google search, which sounds much more boring.

Lo and behold, fancy schmancy velour Wwho even knew that was a thing??!) can be made from an animal hide. Click HERE if you’d like to learn more about velour - the go-to fabric of stage productions.
